Verses to Live By

The following verses adorn the walls of our Bible Institute and our Churches.
We have used them over and over again in counselling people.
If the Christian would memorize, use and heed them
he would be able to avoid most of the problems that arise in his spiritual life.
We offer them to you with the prayer that they will help to keep you
on the straight path and out of trouble.

Information, Please

When I was quite young, my father had one of the first telephones in our neighbourhood. I remember well the polished, old case fastened to the wall. The shiny receiver hung on the side of the box. I was too little to reach the telephone, but used to listen with fascination when my mother used to talk to it.

Then I discovered that somewhere inside the wonderful device lived an amazing person. Her name was, “Information Please,” and there was nothing she did not know. “Information Please” could supply anybody’s number and the correct time.

Once upon a time there was a boy with a very difficult character. His father gives him a bag full of nails and tells him to drive one nail in the garden fence every time he loses his patience and/or has an argument with someone.

The first day the boy drives 37 nails in the garden fence.
